"People often tell me that the primary quality of a wildlife photographer must be patience. I respond by saying that passion is even more important.
We must realize that when walking through nature, we sometimes feel as though we are alone in the world. But if we take the time to stop, to stay still for a few minutes, the moment becomes ripe for encounters. Animals of all species, usually frightened by humans, emerge from their burrows, their nests, or their hiding places.
Nature photography has a soothing influence; one could call this practice 'phototherapy.' Learning to live in the present moment, learning to breathe, and taking the time for contemplation.
In the era of social media and the constant pressure for the 'extraordinary,' some photographers have lost sight of the essence of Photography. The most important thing is not the photo itself, but rather the intimate experience.
As for the debate surrounding the artificial intelligence revolution, it may be capable of transforming or creating a photo, but it will never be able to replace the wonder felt when facing a sunrise."
